Again, force close or wait for the app to crash. Sometimes I'll get an order that I'll only know about because DD spam texts you every single order, so I'll get a notification to "Go to so-and-so" from my text messages, but the app doesn't recognize it or something and then eventually it will pause my dash because it says I didn't accept the offer in time when it literally never showed me the order to begin with. And, of course, once you finally get the order to the customer, it'll freeze/crash just like I mentioned before. I'll have to use google maps to get the directions to the place, which adds unnecessary time to the order while I manually type in the address, especially if the customer is in an apartment and has a specific pin set to their location. It literally will not load the directions at all. You hit the "Get directions" button and it seemingly starts loading up the map, but then goes right back to the previous screen. This is a new problem that has only started happening for me in the last few weeks. Thirdly, the DD app lately has just been kicking me out of GPS before it even loads. Infuriating when you're trying to get the order to the customer as fast as possible. You try to hit exit to reset the map, but the app is now frozen and you have to wait a couple minutes till you either go to settings and "force close" the app or wait for android to tell you the app is not responding and needs to be closed. Like when you hit the "Get directions" button, the entire screen will start flashing and changes all different colors and it reminds me of the old TVs that had the "snow" when you are on a channel with no signal being broadcast, but with rainbow colors instead of just black and white. Secondly, the GPS function of the app often causes it to start glitching in really strange ways. At first I though it might be a problem with my phone or the signal, but even at full signal 4G LTE it still freezes up and the UE has no problem with lag or non-responsiveness. you just have to send a text to the customer saying something along the lines of "my phone glitched, order is at your door" and just hit "handed directly to customer" (which leaves you vulnerable to people claiming they didn't get their order) to get it to finally complete. Fortunately, since you already have the picture, you can head back to the car and attempt to complete the order again. it takes you to your phone's gallery, you choose the picture, it sends it back to the app which freezes up and you're right back to the beginning again. So your only option is to choose "from gallery" and 50% of the time, the same thing happens. You'll just be caught in a never-ending loop where it takes the picture, the app freezes, then you're right back to the screen where it asks you to take a picture. If you use the app's camera function, it will absolutely not work. The app will ask you if you want to take a picture using the app itself or if you want to pick a picture you've already taken from your phone's gallery. It usually crashes right when I'm about to complete an order, where you take a picture of the customer's order at their door. every single order I try to complete causes this POS app to freeze and crash. How that is possible, I don't understand at all. That said, oh my god does the DD app SUCK! I've been working for DD for over two years now and the app has progressively gotten worse. It's just nice to know I'll always have work on DD so I'm not pointlessly driving around town wasting gasoline. but that's probably not anything that benefits the customer. Their GPS maps need a major update as well.ĭoorDash always has volume. Unfortunately, like others have pointed out, there's usually a glut of drivers working for UE on any given night, so sometimes I'll get lucky and make a ton and other nights (like last night) I'll only get one order for the entire 4-6 hour time I'm out delivering. I prefer UberEats as the delivery driver because the app is much more responsive and usually the offers are higher, although there are shit orders on every platform. Haven't worked for GrubHub, so I can't comment on that. Apologies about the wall of text I'm about to put out here.
